Privacy
Last updated: 2026-05-13. We follow Washington privacy law and informed-consent practices.
What we collect
- Identity: name, date of birth, phone, email, address.
- Verification: a photo of your driver's license or state ID, used to confirm you're 18+ and a Bingen/White Salmon resident.
- Reservation details: dates, bike type, hub or delivery address, helmet size, accessory needs.
- Optional grant-reporting: trip purpose, prior cycling experience, household size, income bracket, and self-identified race/ethnicity. These are optional and never required to borrow a bike.
- Operational data: mileage, check-out/return times, condition logs, incident reports.
How we use it
- To operate the lending library — confirm eligibility, schedule pickup/delivery, contact you about your reservation.
- To report aggregated, non-identifying program metrics to Forth Mobility and WSDOT as required by the grant.
- To support the University of Washington's evaluation of the program — only with your explicit consent, and only in aggregated or de-identified form for publication.
- To improve safety: incident records help us spot patterns and prevent future harm.
Driver's license images
Your ID photo is stored in encrypted cloud storage accessible only to authorized program staff. We use it only to verify your age and residency. Once you've been verified and your active reservations are complete, we delete the image from our system on a regular schedule (typically within 90 days of your last reservation).
Sharing
- We never sell your information.
- We share aggregated program metrics with Forth Mobility and WSDOT (no personal details).
- We may share de-identified or aggregated data with University of Washington researchers, but only if you opt in to the evaluation.
- We may disclose information when required by law (subpoena, court order) or to prevent imminent harm.
- We work with service providers for email, SMS, and cloud storage. Those providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
Your rights
- Ask us what we have about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information once your reservations are complete (we'll keep what we're legally required to retain for the grant).
- Opt out of UW evaluation participation at any time, with no effect on your ability to borrow.
